Hook Open Gardens 2015

Huge success for Hook Open Gardens 2015

We had 250 paying visitors to our 11 open gardens and St. Mary’s Church event last Sunday they all left very happy with bags of plants and home baking.

Visitors came from all over Yorkshire and the weather didn’t disappoint us what a beautiful summers day we had.

We raised a magnificent sum of £1000 which will be shared equally between

Hook in Bloom and Hook Gardening Club.

Many Thanks  to villagers, volunteers and visitors, local and national businesses for their support.

A few photos from our event….

The horse is of Janet Vitty with “Marble” a Welsh Cross aged 22 lending a hand (well 13.3 hands to be precise!} to cut the grass in Hook village for their open gardens day ,  Capable of cropping 10 sqm of grass per litre of water it was just a s cheap and a lit less noisier than  a lawnmower!!!

  • If you live anywhere near this companionable gardening club, I do not hesitate to recommend it.

I have been giving talks, about how to fit your garden into your lifestyle, for about 3 years now and had a lovely evening with the Hook Gardening Club recently, when I gave the first talk for 2018, back in January. The evening was well attended by very friendly and knowledgeable people who gave me a much appreciated welcome.
Having attended many such groups by now, I can safely say that the Hook Gardening Club stands out for its ability to make visitors and members alike feel at ease, friendly people and interesting talks (not that I’m biaised, of course!)  – Sally Tierney
